Adam Moskowitz leaves Kozyak Tropin after 25 years to create The Moskowitz Law Firm, dedicated to consumer class representation.
New venture comes on the heels of resolving more than 30 forced-place insurance claims for consumers, totaling over $5.9 billion.
MIAMI, FL – January 24, 2018 – Adam Moskowitz, who serves as Lead and Co-Lead counsel in some of the country’s largest class actions announces the launch of his new firm, The Moskowitz Law Firm, which will focus its practice primarily on representing plaintiffs in class action and commercial litigation matters. The Firm’s formation comes on the heels of Adam’s successful settlement of more than 30 nationwide class action cases against some of the biggest banks and insurers in the forced-placed insurance class action matter, where he has recovered more than $5.9 billion in relief for over five million homeowners to date. Federal Judge Jonathan Goodman just today granted final approval to three additional nationwide force-placed settlements involving additional mortgage servicers and insurers benefiting thousands of homeowners nationwide and providing millions of dollars in relief.
“Class action litigation is often the first and only line of defense for consumers in protecting against corporate abuse, negligence and fraud,” said Adam Moskowitz, Founder of The Moskowitz Law Firm. “The Moskowitz Law Firm will be among only a few firms in the country to concentrate solely on this form of consumer representation. By narrowing our focus and resources to serving consumers in this capacity, we can take on even more claims of injustice that might otherwise be ignored.”
In addition to all of the pending forced-place insurance matters, Adam currently serves as Co-Lead counsel in other federal nationwide cases, including a certified nationwide class action against Transamerica Life Insurance in Los Angeles, and in the Fieldturf MDL litigation in the District of New Jersey alongside Chris Seeger. Adam has previously served as Co-Lead counsel in many other successful national consumer class actions, including one of the nation’s largest consumer class actions that was resolved with American Express regarding foreign currency conversion charges.
Prior to launching this new venture, Adam was a partner at Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, where he served as Chairman of its Class Action Practice and served in the past as Managing Partner. He will be joined by Partner Howard Bushman, formerly of Harke, Clasby & Bushman, LLP, who has many years of experience successfully resolving national class action cases.
"I have had the great fortune to work alongside some of the region's most respected attorneys for more than 25 years while at KTT," said Moskowitz. "I look forward to maintaining those great relationships while building a new platform for the future."
According to Adam, timing has never been more critical for an endeavor of this nature, particularly as federal legislation continues to take aim at consumer access through the courts.
Beyond his work inside the courtroom, Adam is also dedicating time to building the next generation of class action leaders within the classroom. Adam has been the Adjunct Professor in Class Action Litigation at his alma mater, the University of Miami School of Law for nearly 25 years. In 2016, along with his force-placed co-counsel, Adam donated $1,000,000 to the UM School of Law to provide scholarships and helped create its Annual Class Action Forum. Adam has directed millions of dollars in cy pres donations to local and national charities, as a result of his successful class action settlements. Additionally, he was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Duke University Class Action Program, where he helps organize and present national seminars and programs each month with federal judges on various class action issues.
